Azerbaijan or the Republic of Azerbaijan is a country located in Eurasia. It holds the distinction of being the largest in the Caucasus area. Russia, Georgia, Iran and Armenia are its immediate neighbours. Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan and also the largest city in the country. Azerbaijani is the official language. The country is spread across an area of 86,600 sq kms. The currency of Azerbaijan is known as Manta. The country is divided into 10 economic regions. A Democratic Republic, the country follows a secular policy. Inpite of having a majority Muslim population the country has been able to clearly maintain its stand and remain a secular state. It is part of several international organizations and has friendly diplomatic relations with over 150 countries across the globe.
