Turkmenistan is a country located in Central Asia. The land is located between 35 and 43 deg N latitudes and 52 and 67 deg E longitudes. Earlier known as Turkmenia, it shares its borders with Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Ashgabat is the capital of the country and also holds the distinction of being the largest city. Turkmen is the official language of the land. Turkmen new manat is the official currency. The country is spread over an area of 491,210 sq kms and is divided into five provinces and a capital city district for all administrative purposes.
