Uzbek is the official language of the land. The Uzbekistan Som is the official currency of the land. The country is divided into 12 provinces, an autonomous republic and an independent city. Uzbekistan is known for its abundant natural resources and ranks among the top countries of the world in gold, copper and uranium deposits.
