The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is located in the southern part of the Caribbean and is spread across an area of 5128 sq kms. The country lies between 10 and 11 deg N latitudes and 60 and 61 deg w longitudes. Trinidad is the larger of the two and also accounts for majority of the population. In fact, 96% of the population lives on the island of Trinidad. The Port of Spain is the capital and Chaguanas is the largest city. English is the official language. A parliamentary republic, the country has a population of approximately 1.3 million. The Trinidad and Tobago dollar is the official currency. Christianity is the predominant religion here.
