Netherlands is located in the north western part of Europe. Netherlands shares its boundaries with Germany and Belgium. A parliamentary democracy, Amsterdam is the capital of the country. It is a low lying land and a major part of Netherlands lies below sea level. The European part of the country is located between 50 deg and 54 deg N latitudes and 3 and 8 deg E longitudes. Dutch is the official language of the land. It is spread over an area of 41848 sq kms. The land has a population of approximately 16,491,852. The country is divided into 12 different regions for the purpose of administration. Each of them is called a province and is governed by a Commissaris van de Koningin meaning the Commissioner of the Queen.
