The State of Israel is located on the eastern part of the Mediterranean sea. It shares its borders with Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and the Gaza strip. A parliamentary democracy, Israel is located between 29 deg and 34 deg N latitudes and 34 deg and 36 deg E longitudes. Jerusalem is the capital of the country. Hebrew and Arabic are the official languages of the land. The population of the land is approximately 7,859,300. Shekel is the official currency. Israel is divided into 6 districts for all administrative purposes which are further sub-divided into 15 sub-districts.
