Qatar or the State of Qatar is an Arab state that is situated in the Middle East. It shares its borders with Saudi Arabia. It is located between 24 and 27 deg N latitudes and 50 and 52 deg E longitudes. The country is an absolute monarchy and is ruled by the Al Thani family. An immensely rich state, oil and natural gas form the backbone of Qatar’s economy. Doha is the capital of the country. Arabic is the official language here. It is spread over an area of 11,437 sq kms. Riyal is the official currency of Qatar. Islam is the dominant religion of the country with approximately 77.5% of the people being Muslims.
