The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in Western Asia and forms an integral part of the Arabian Peninsula. It shares its borders with Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Yemen. It is located between 16 deg and 33 deg N latitudes and 34 and 56 deg E longitudes. Riyadh is the capital of the country. Arabic is the official language here. The Saudi Riyal is the official currency. The population of the land is approximately 27 million with 97% of the population being Muslims. A unitary Islamic absolute monarchy, the country is spread over an area of 2,149,690 square kms. The country is divided into 13 different provinces for all administrative purposes and the provinces are further sub-divided into governorates. The economy of the land is mainly based on petroleum.
