It is fast growing in the United States, Canada, and many other countries. If you would like to become a nurse then it is important that you familiarize yourself with what is required to work as a registered nurse, especially in the US and Canada.
Requirements
Let us start from the basics. You will require a high school diploma or GED. You should have good knowledge of science subjects like biology and chemistry.
Of course, after completion of this, there will be various paths to travel but if you are keen on selecting nursing to be your career then you can apply for CNA (Certified Nursing Aid). It would be an eight-week training course. There is an option to work as a practical nurse. For that, one will have to apply for the practical nursing course which can be a year long. This can be enough to start the career, find a good job in the health care sector but this is just the beginning.
Why Nursing?
Nursing is a very popular profession. Anyone who is looking for a great career in healthcare sector can opt for one of the most suitable nursing courses. There are various programs or the courses which interested candidates can take to become a qualified nurse. After completion of the course, finding a good job may not be difficult as nurses are always in big demand (because of the expansion of the health care sector, the increase in number of private care service organizations etc).
Becoming a Registered Nurse
It is important to that the candidates should earn an associate or a bachelor’s degree in nursing in order to work or practice as a registered nurse. Select one of the colleges which offer this degree course (There are various colleges which also help students find the job right after completion of their degree. Enrolling for the course at one of such colleges can certainly help a lot as one may not have to look for the job on their own which can also be challenging, especially for the overseas candidates). Furthermore, candidates can opt for a master’s program or a doctorate degree which can bring endless opportunities to excel in career. There are options to work as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Advanced Practice Nurses, Clinical Leaders etc.
Why NCLEX?
But there is something which we call NCLEX that is more necessary to start the practice. NCLEX is taken in order to work as a licensed nurse (anyone who doesn’t take the test or doesn’t get through it with a good required score may not get the license. And of course, without license, there is no question of starting or continuing the practice as there are very strict rules in the US and Canada).
Importance of Taking NCLEX
All the nurses will have to take National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). It is mandatory. Without it, license will not be issued and there can be no chance to start practice. In fact, many of the employers weed out the resumes taking this as one of the important criteria. If the candidates do not have NCLEX certification then they can’t get a good job. There are two options. One can go for NCLEX – RN or NCLEX – PN. The former is for the registered nurses and the latter is for the practical nurses.
Only after obtaining a good score at it, the candidates can simplify their route to success in their career. If you wish to pass this exam then start your preparation for it from today. Without good study preparation material for NCLEX, you can’t get a good score at it. So, order your exam material online, prepare for it well and come out in flying colors.
